Top quality extraction from nuts and fruits

Gentle extraction from nuts and fruits

Nuts, fruits or their seeds contain valuable oils, butter or active ingredients which are extracted by means of our CO2 process in their original, natural form. Thereby not only does the oily extract often play an important role, but the reduced-fat raffinate is also used due to its improved storage suitability or higher protein content.

Sabal – a high quality oil from American berries!

The sabal plant or saw tooth palm is indigenous to the southeast of the USA. It is a bush palm tree with a short trunk and long leaves, the leafstalks of which have “teeth” along their edges. Use is made of the ripe, dried, deep purple to black coloured berries, which contain an oil consisting of phytosterols and an unusually high percentage of free fatty acids. The extract from these fruits is said to inhibit the production of hormones which stimulate the growth of the prostate gland. The well-known consequences can thus be delayed. Through extraction by means of CO2 the active substances are enriched and an extract with an attractive yellowish to reddish colour is obtained, which can be used as a food supplement.

Cocoa – degreased powder and pure butter

In its original form the cocoa bean comprises approximately 50–60 % cocoa butter. When the crushed bean is treated mechanically, a press cake with 10–12 % fat is formed. A solvent is normally used to remove the remaining cocoa butter. But not by us: We degrease the pre-pressed cocoa cake using only pure CO2. The cocoa powder, with its fat content of under 1 %, and the cocoa butter are therefore free of harmful solvent residues and can be used as additives to dietary or cosmetic products without any further processing.

Further possible products for CO₂ extraction

In the same way anti-inflammatory concentrates can be obtained from sallow thorn seeds or pulp as food supplements; the butter as well as the pure white, reduced-fat coconut flakes are produced for the food industry; the wax from apple peel is used in shampoos; the butter from mango seeds can be used as a basis for lipsticks; pomegranate or rose hip oils are used in high quality creams; the reduced-fat flakes from lupines serve as a source of vegetable proteins in food ... and these are just a few examples from a large number of further ones!

Advantages of our CO₂ production process for extraction from nuts and fruits

Our process makes it possible to use all extracted fractions: Not only the extracts but also the reduced-fat raffinates can be used directly, or immediately added to the next step of the process. Our customers come from companies for which natural ingredients play an important role, for example the food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical industries.
