Gentle extraction from grain and seed

Often extraction processes are required to obtain oils from grains, due to the low oil content in the raw materials. It is not always possible to release these oils completely from the plant matrix by means of a standard press method. For this reason, CO2 extraction is the best possible method if organic solvents are not to be used!

Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds from certified organic cultivation are gently processed, and valuable vegetable protein is obtained containing at least 55 % proteins. It is extracted by means of a special cold pressing from organic sunflower seeds and then ground. Afterwards the fat contained is almost completely removed using our CO2 technology and at the same time the protein content is further increased. Particularly worthy of mention are the emulsification and the delicate, nutty taste of the sunflower proteinmore information about Heliaflor 

Rice bran

Using our CO2 extraction process, rice bran oil is obtained from the seedlings and chaff which are separated from the rice when it is processed. CO2-extracted rice bran oil has a brownish to greenish colour and emits a characteristic aroma. In addition to a balanced proportion of oil, linoleic and palmitic acids, rice bran oil also contains gamma-oryzano, tocotrienoles, tocopherols and squalenes.


Oats are a well-known, cultivated plant used in many different ways, and contain amongst other things sterols, triterpenoid saponines such as avenacin and avenacoside. Oats are also gluten-free and are associated in the consumer’s mind with positive characteristics. Despite the fact that oats are well-known and very popular, the valuable oil obtained from them using CO2 technology is rare and less well-known. This gold-coloured oat oil is used for example in skin calming product formulations.

Further possible products for CO₂ extraction

CO2 extraction offers the ideal possibility for solvent-free extraction of exclusive oils and protein-rich fractions from wheat, millet, amaranth, barley, maize, linseed or chia for the food industry and for use in food supplements or high quality cosmetics.
